Falling into a deep, soundless sleep, Doc dreamt of his arms, now fleshy fins, moving softly past Beta Aquarii, the double star of the constellation Aquarius. The light from the giant star was burning like a furnace; he could feel the heat of his new skin burning like a hand on a radiator, melting away the old layers like a pumice stone on the corn of a foot. He could feel his pores screaming out in satisfaction as the star got closer and closer, carving out a new body as he swam around its edge. He could see from each angle like a fly with a thousand eyes, sense the universe around him like the fingers of a glove. A smaller Malicha approached him, signalling to him with its whale like call, clicking and whining. Doc swam toward this curious beast, his giant body rubbing against it in comradery - this moment made him feel as if there was a female hidden inside of this one, an old woman born again in the fresh body of a gigantic ship.
